From the Principal
Each spring, we celebrate progress and honor the many ways learners are stretching towards new goals.
Thank you for attending Open House. Our campus buzzed with smiles and pride as our readers, writers, scientists, artists, mathematicians, inventors, citizens, designers, and big thinkers shined!
Collaboration with Menlo Park
Last week, learners also shared their ideas with educators from Menlo Park. A team from Laurel School visited our classrooms to see Project-Based Learning (PBL) and the 5Cs in action. Immersed in their projects, children presented data, slides, songs, writing, artwork, and more. All classrooms at White Oaks are engaged in PBLs this spring, asking a driving question, engaging in student-driven inquiry and analyzing findings. Here are some of the examples that were shared with our visitors:
3rd Grade – Green Energy Project – Making a Difference for our World
Students shared their work with the Menlo Park team, community members at Open House, and also at a school-wide Energy Fair for all White Oaks students.
The Buddy Bench project in K/1 – A Place to Find Friends on the Playground
In addition to sharing their work with our visitors, the children created a video for all classrooms to learn about the new Buddy Bench and how to use it. Looking for a friend? Meet at the Buddy Bench!
This has been a busy, productive, and joyful school year. Go, amazing White Oaks kids!

Use Caution When Driving
Please use caution, drive carefully, and obey all traffic laws as you drive around our school and neighborhood. Please be on the look out for little ones who are biking, scootering, or walking since children sometimes can be unpredictable as they navigate the streets. White Oaks encourages everyone to walk, bike, or scooter to school whenever possible to reduce traffic congestion and encourage a healthy start to the day. Thank you for your help in keeping our children safe.
Thank You White Oaks Families!
Many thanks to the Idhe, Brill, Chang, Enemark, Fonda, Ghanekar/Modhavi, Lopitaux, Ramezane, and Holloszy families that came out to help beautify the school last Sunday! Many hands made less work for sure and the school looks great! If you couldn’t make it this time, no worries, we’ll have a school clean up in the fall! -Angela Holloszy, White Oaks School Beautification
PTA Thank Yous!
Thank you very much to Lisa Amirkhan and Laurel Marks for rallying the White Oaks families in the Hometown Days parade. The props and pom-poms were perfect and White Oaks spirit filled the air! Thank you also to all who came out to walk in the parade and to those who cheered us on!
A tremendous thank you to Angela Holloszy for all her efforts and work in organizing and running the White Oaks School Beautification day. Thank you also to all the volunteers that came out to help clean up the campus and get it ready for Open House. The classroom areas and school yard look great!
A heartfelt thank you to Nicola Guerrieri and Mary Rosen for all of their hard work in setting up the Art in Action Art Gallery for Open House and for all of their hard work throughout the year to run the program. Thank you also to Jana Paquette for providing guidance along the way and to all the many volunteers who helped to roll blue tape and to select, mount, hang and take down artwork throughout the past couple weeks. Finally, thank you to all the Art in Action classroom coordinators, docents, and helpers throughout the year. The program could not exist without you all and your efforts have made the program a success.
