Theater Camp for Ages 5-10
Watch your child gain confidence and creativity in Musical Theater Camp with San Carlos Children’s Theater! Kids 5-10 discover exciting new skills on and off the stage as they work with theater professionals in a fun, safe environment. Our special half-day camp runs June 19-30 from 9 am-12 pm, leaving plenty of afternoon time for other summer activities. Each camp week wraps up with a presentation for friends/family! Get Involved at Arroyo!
Third grade parents – We are very excited to have you join the Arroyo community in the fall. We have many ways for you to get involved with the school – during the school day, in the evenings, or on the weekends. We are looking for parents to help us lead key events next year including: Arroyo Day (8/21), Halloween Party, Arroyo Dance, Used Book Fair, Spelling Bee, etc. We are also seeking a Healthy Cities Tutoring Liaison for Arroyo! Rock Band Summer Camp with Hummingbird Music School
Explore the world of music this summer at Rock Band Camp! Campers will be immersed in live music and performance for a full week, experiencing what it’s like to be in a rock band with fellow musicians and bandmates. Campers will together form a band, attend daily instrument lessons and band rehearsals, participate in music workshops, and perform with their band in a live showcase at the end of the week.
Campers sign up to learn either guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, horns/woodwinds, or vocals.
Bands will be formed on the first day of camp, based on experience level. Campers can choose to form a band with friends.

Great Success for Bike to School Day
On Bike to School Day, May 10th, our students, staff, and parents took to the streets and commuted to school using their own power either by walking or rolling. Of the students surveyed on Bike to School Day, 84% of them arrived at school in some way other than a single occupancy vehicle (http://www.scsdk8.org/wp-content/uploads/BTSD2017-Results.pdf). Thanks to the volunteers who helped hand out prizes and take tallies, and to all the parents and students who took part!

Kids’ Bike Ride
The Ryan Phua Memorial Kids’ Bike Ride is the largest kids’ bike ride in the US. The event is scheduled for Sunday, June 25, 2017 in Downtown Burlingame, CA and the race starts at 10:30am. After pedaling to the finish, each child happily receives a medal, popsicle and goody bag. While the event is free, children participants raise pledges for the Ryan Phua Memorial Fund. Fun Ways to Get Back to Basics
Does your child need to brush up on their math skills before school starts? Don’t let your child be the one who says “I forgot everything over the summer!” Students in this class will feel more confident returning to school better prepared for math. This class is offered through the San Carlos Park & Recreation Summer Camp Program. It will be offered the week of August 7-11. It is for incoming 5th & 6th graders and incoming 7th & 8th graders. Chalk Painting Festival
